"Find Your Center: A Grounding Technique to Reconnect with Your Body

In seeking an image to support this post, I did not want a generic image. It had to be one that reflects what I am sharing - one where you get "all the feels."

The deep sense of peace, joy, love, and gratitude that comes from the physical touch of hugging another human being.

It is obviously powerful with someone whom you care about as it is pictured here between two friends, soul mates. However, it is just as powerful if not more so with a complete stranger or a new acquaintance.

When I see this photo I have a deep sense of the peace, love, joy, and gratitude that was expressed in that moment. This memory led me to create a new technique to ground myself and come home into my body.

As often as possible and more importantly when I am experiencing low vibrations or a sense of sadness or "being down," I give myself a full, all-encompassing hug. You know, like we used to do as children imitating lovers they experienced in an embrace or kissing.

Wrap both arms around your body, not just at shoulder height - at chest level. It allows you to connect with your heart and really feel the power of your pulsing heartbeat. Really hugging yourself as a dear and beloved friend and soul mate.

After all the seeds of love must first be planted within our own garden. The growth and power come from the loving, nurturing, kindness, and compassion we give ourselves. In turn, this brings us back to the present. Releasing what no longer serves us (the upset). Healing the heart. Rejuvenating the soul and reigniting the spark within so we can embrace our journey and stand tall in our power.
